USS Lexington Museum to Host Hooks Batting Practice on Flight Deck

The USS Lexington Museum will once again welcome the Corpus Christi Hooks as they take batting practice aboard the aircraft carrier on Saturday, May 25 at 11:30 a.m.

Select Hooks players and guests will compete to see who can launch the longest shot off the flight deck toward Corpus Christi Bay. The event is part of the team’s Blue Ghosts Weekend celebration, during which the Hooks will take the field as the Corpus Christi Blue Ghosts from May 23-25, wearing special edition jerseys and caps.

Admission to the batting practice event aboard USS Lexington follows the pricing of daily admission to the museum.

Commissioned by the United States Navy in 1943, USS Lexington served the Fifth Fleet during World War II. The famed aircraft carrier was engaged in nearly every operation in the Pacific Theater, and toiled for 21 months in combat. The Japanese reported the Lexington sunk no less than four times, earning her the nickname “The Blue Ghost.”

Fans interested in collecting baseballs from batting practice can swim, kayak, paddleboard, jet-ski, or boat to the landing zone in Corpus Christi Bay, off the port aft corner of the ship. To purchase tickets to any of the baseball games during Blue Ghosts Weekend, please visit the Corpus Christi Hooks website. Blue Ghost merchandise will be available at the event and in the Ship’s Store.
